History of Candy - Origin, History and Facts of Candy
It is widely accepted that the concept of a sweet
treat was first developed by cave people who preferred honey from bees. Before
the Chinese, the Indians, the inhabitants of the Middle East, and then
the Greeks and the Romans, they combined fruits and nuts with honey to produce
sweets. Previous sweets are thought to have been used as a form of medicinal
aid for stomach disorders. When culture continued to evolve, and when the
refining of sugar was discovered, it became very large.
At the beginning of the nineteenth century,
following the discovery of "beet" and the advancement of sweets in
the industrial era, the market grew quickly and a variety of flavours started
to be incorporated into candy mixtures. Since sweets are no longer homemade and
have started to be mass-produced, they become affordable to all for the first
time. Long ago, cookies, marshmallows and Turkish pleasure were boiled..Also,
during this period, hard candies, such as peppermint and lemon drops, became
very popular in the US. England was the first country to create vast amounts of
hard candy, and in 1851 the Great Exhibition of London Prince Albert, a large
variety of boiled sweets, candy, chocolate cream, caramel, and several other
types of candy, represented European and American confectioners. Used to do so.
In the seventeenth century, as sugar became
somewhat more affordable, people in England and America consumed sugar candies
combined with fruit and nuts. Caramel and lollipops became known in the early
18th century. By the mid-1800s, more than 380 candy factories had been founded
in the United States. Most of them produced hard candies that were sold loose.
The first chocolate factory in the United States was set up in 1765.
