History of Candy - Origin, History and Facts of Candy

It is widely accepted that the concept of a sweet treat was first developed by cave people who preferred honey from bees. Before the Chinese,  the Indians, the inhabitants of the Middle East, and then the Greeks and the Romans, they combined fruits and nuts with honey to produce sweets. Previous sweets are thought to have been used as a form of medicinal aid for stomach disorders. When culture continued to evolve, and when the refining of sugar was discovered, it became very large.   In the seventeenth century, as sugar became somewhat more affordable, people in England and America consumed sugar candies combined with fruit and nuts. Caramel and lollipops became known in the early 18th century. By the mid-1800s, more than 380 candy factories had been founded in the United States.
